Hi, I’m Dr. Sarah Hollander, MD, psychiatrist and founder of Psychiatry of Life. What I bring to my clients is a unique blend: the rigor of neuroscience research, the depth of medical training as an MD, and a profound understanding of the soul’s journey toward wholeness.

My Journey

Since childhood, I’ve been deeply curious about what makes us who we are: our behaviors, patterns, and deeper selves. This curiosity led me through neuroscience, human development, biology, and psychology, eventually earning my MD with a specialization in psychiatry.

After graduating from medical school, I worked as a mental health assistant on an adult inpatient unit. Freed from the pressures of being “the doctor,” I had the gift of time to truly listen. Those one-on-one moments, sitting with people in their rawest states, taught me more about healing than any textbook ever could.

During my psychiatry residency at Bergen New Bridge Medical Center, one of the nation’s largest and most comprehensive psychiatric hospitals, I deepened those listening skills. My work across diverse populations, from researching treatment-resistant schizophrenia in Tel Aviv to providing care virtually for Native American communities, exposed me to different cultural understandings of mental health and healing. These experiences taught me that healing isn’t one-size-fits-all and that true transformation honors both scientific rigor and cultural wisdom.

My Approach

I bridge worlds that rarely meet: peer-reviewed science and ancient wisdom, clinical precision and spiritual insight. You are not one-dimensional, and your healing should not be one-dimensional either. With my diverse toolkit, I ensure that you get exactly what you need for where you are in your journey.

Tree of Life Alignment

Ready to begin your transformation?

From this diverse experience, I created TOLA (Tree of Life Alignment), a framework that bridges rigorous science with the deeper work of remembering who you are. True transformation isn’t about adding more strategies or achievements. True transformation is about excavating your authentic self from beneath the layers of conditioning and getting to the root cause.

Using this framework, I guide high-achieving professionals: physicians, lawyers, executives, and creatives who’ve mastered their fields but lost themselves in the process. Together, we close the gap between the life you’ve built and the life you actually want.
